We are proud to be the custodians of ex-Southern Railroad caboose #793.  On November 15, 1989 Southern Railroad approved the transfer of this caboose to the City of Hendersonville.

Here are some photos of the caboose in its previous location before restoration.

Before the caboose arrived we had to make a spot for it to rest on.

Finally the spot was ready and the caboose was delivered.

Now that the caboose had arrived we needed to repaint her.

This is the result today with the caboose standing proudly next to the restored depot with a new coat of paint.  A visitor entrance stairway and ramp were recently added on the far end.  Although it is not wheelchair accessible, it is much safer for the public to enter than the standard issue caboose steps.
